The House — a publishing house for small authors

The offer, plain

This is a publishing house for small authors, built on a simple formula: something real is free at the front, and the depth is priced behind it.

That's the whole engine. A reader gets a genuine taste for free — not a teaser, not a trap — and the work behind it carries a real price.

And here is the part that makes it a house and not a machine: you decide how to use the formula. It is a toolkit, not a mold. Every piece below is yours to take, adjust, or leave off. Your book, your arrangement, your name on the cover.

The formula, at your size

The formula scales to whatever shelf you actually have:

One book

One chapter free

Only have one book out? Make the first chapter free and sell the rest. The free chapter is the taste; the book is the meal.

Two books

Book 1 free, Book 2 priced

Book 1 completely free. Book 2 at the price of two. This is the exact arrangement the house itself runs on — see the proof below.

Lots of books

One front-door book

Pick one book as your front door — the free taste that represents you. The rest of the shelf sits priced behind it.

For a big shelf, the front door can work harder, your choice: the first chapter of every book free (a shelf of tastes), a free Book 1 for each series, or a front door that rotates so the backlist stays alive. The unlock paths below can open a mid-list title too, not just the newest.

Free unlock paths — opt in, or don't

Alongside a straight price, the house offers two free ways for a reader to earn your book. Each one is a switch, and the switch is in your hand:

Switch on either, both, or neither — and sell straight if that's your call. Nobody here will talk you out of your own arrangement.

The cut

You keep 95%. The house takes 5% — of what's left after the payment processor's fee.

The order matters, so here it is in the open: the processor takes its fee first, off the top, where everyone can see it. Then the rest splits 95 to you, 5 to the house. Nothing hides inside the number.

For scale: the big stores keep 30–65% of a book's price. Traditional publishing pays its authors 8–15%. This house runs the other way on purpose — the author eats first.

House rules

The proof — the house's own books

This isn't a theory looking for guinea pigs. The formula is already running, live, on this very site: TRUST ME BRO, Book 1 is completely free, and Book 2 has three ways in — $20, the four partner-door link clicks, or share the page. Raphael's own books went first, under the same rules and the same labeling you're being offered.

How to join

The house is new, and it is onboarding its first authors by hand, one at a time — no form, no queue, no portal. If you're a small author and this sounds like your kind of house, talk to Raphael directly:

Bring your book as it is — one book, two books, a whole shelf, still being written. The arrangement gets worked out in conversation, in plain language, before anything is signed or sold.

Sales plumbing for house authors — checkouts and payouts — is being built as the first authors sign on, and each author's setup is agreed with them directly. Nothing about your book goes on sale until you say so.
